Getting Product Certification for your product.

  • What is ISO14001?

The International environmental standard ISO14001 has the aim of guiding businesses who want to retain profitability while also reducing the impacts of their activities on the environment.

It achieves these aims through setting out the necessary steps and elements to set up an Environment Management System (EMS).

It has been developed in response to much more stringent legislation and the increasing concern of governments and stakeholders internationally that businesses should control the impact of their activities on the environment.

  • What are the benefits of being an Environmentally certified company?

Increasingly organisations may require certification to ISO14001 as a condition of a contract with a customer.

However organisations may seek certification to the Environmental standard for many other reasons. Some of these include:

    • Meet legal and regulatory requirements
Gives customers confidence that your organisation is meeting its legal and regulatory compliance obligations.
    • Attract investment
Certification to ISO14001 can also be used as a marketing tool and has the ability to attract more and different types of customers and contracts to the business.
    • Manage and prevent risks
Helps in managing and diminishing environmental risks now and in the future and therefore potentially delivering significant cost savings.
    • Community and Environmental reputation
Indicates a desire to demonstrate environmental leadership and commitment to customers and stakeholders and can improve the standing and reputation of the organisation in the market place and in the community.

  • What our consultants will do for you

ICS follow a series of clearly defined steps in developing or preparing you Management system for certification.

The steps typically include the following:

    1. Introductory Visit: First of all, one of our experienced consultants will conduct a thorough initial interview and gap analysis of your system to identify both strengths and gaps and what is still required to be implemented or developed for the system to meet your needs or the requirements of the chosen Standard.
    2. Document Review: The consultant will review all the relevant documentation in order to inform the estimate as accurately as possible.
    3. Analysis and quote: The consultant will then go away and prepare an estimate based on the information gathered and make a time to go through this with you.
    4. System audit: If required, all relevant processes will be thoroughly audited on site over a series of visits to identify areas which can be improved and findings of these audits are reported to management along with any corrective actions which are recommended.
    5. Improvement Suggestions: We will make improvement suggestions based on our extensive experience across a broad range of industries.
    6. Develop documentation: The consultant will then help you to develop any documentation that is required: procedures, forms etc
    7. Resources: Our consultants may also offer resources to improve the control and management of your documented system if required.
    8. Training: Training will be provided as required to all staff to familiarize them with the system, its benefits and how to use it.
    9. Pre-audit and audit preparation: The system and relevant staff are then prepared for the external pre-audit and final audit if required.
    10. System Maintenance: Following your certification, we can provide support by assisting you with:
      • Your internal and supplier audits and other system maintenance
      • Ensuring your management system continues to meet your expectations and the requirements of the relevant standard or code
      • Helping you develop and amend your system as your company's needs change.
